English Language Fellow Alicia Brill along with Fulbright English Teaching Assistants (ETAs) Caitlin Jordan and Kelly Fitzgerald hosted a workshop on Improving Students’ English Conversation Skills for 40 secondary school teachers in Pangkal Pinang, Bangka Belitung.
The workshop focused on strategies for promoting a positive learning environment including the use of classroom rules, cooperative learning, how to call on students, and error correction. Participants were shown how to use authentic materials, art, and speaking-focused activities in their classrooms. This workshop aims at strengthening local teaching capacity and promotes collaborative partnerships in English language teaching development between RELO and the Fulbright ETA Program run through AMINEF in Indonesia.
